Confronting This & Considering That.
Years end is approaching with increasing velocity. Endings incite retrospection. Many of us know that we are leaving things on the table or actively ignoring potential sources of future happiness.
Staring out a window, synapses fire and I’m distracted by the idea again that I’m not doing enough.
Seth Godin has become my spirit animal. A figure that pushes and prods at our brains to make the difficult choices. Invited in to be the voice that is hard to hear. Do you want this or not? Do I really want more of this? The real focus comes down to “this”.
What is this?
This comes with a lot of freedom to maneuver. This comes with a nice check. This comes with perks for sure. But this also comes with stress. This comes without privacy. This comes without a clock. This is blocking other happiness. This becomes a distraction at all hours of the day. This has taken over.
Is this me?
People certainly enjoy this from me. People depend on me to do this. This often defines me. Who would miss this today?
How will they feel about me when I no longer want this and start to want that?
