What Seemed to Be Impossible
Years ago, I had aspirations. So many ideas and not enough time. I could fill three lifetimes with ideas and interests. I need to balance this immense love for my family with this drive to express and create.
In that pursuit, there is a need to learn more processes and technologies, and to build connections. The only problem is keeping up with the things that make your dreams work while also getting good at the foundational things. Ideas and aspirations pile up faster than a person can feasibly knock them out and check them off the list.
That is where we stand today. But there is an opportunity in the foreground that is too rich to pass up: the advancement in AI. Stay with me.
It clearly can't do everything, but there are plenty of things it does way better than me. One, because it's fast. Two, because it was trained by people who care a lot more than I ever could.
Take this very site. I learned to code because I had to for my job, or better said, to stay employed after college. I kept coding because it allowed me to do more than the other designers. It let me play in a medium that most could not. There are awesome aspects to the job, but it was never my passion. It was always a means to an end. It was always about the expression.
So in this instance, if AI can take that part off my hands and do the things that would literally take me days or months, I will gladly hand it over. But I'll be real: there are some tasks I could never accomplish. Server-side code and database schemas. These are so far out of reach for most people that they don't know what they don't know. That's another thing AI can do.
I am happy to offload the long, arduous work I needed to do to make things happen. This site is now much closer to the site I have wanted for many years. It stayed static and stale for far too long. AI changed that. And it isn't fair to say that AI took someone's job in the making of these updates and the newest launch. It would be more accurate to say that these things would never have happened.
So now I can move on to the truly aspirational things I have been wanting to do. More creating of art, design, and content. Less time orchestrating it in code, and more time making the real thing.
I hope to check more boxes faster than was previously possible. I have some really cool things I would like to do, and some really cool people I would like to spend more time with. (Love ya, girls!)
