The Basics, Practice the Basics, Master the Basics

Advice for everyone, master the basics. Move on into whatever version of advanced study you want, but don’t forget the basics.

Students always wonder how to get better fast, excel and get that great job ahead of the next guy. People think there are a unique set of steps that will help avoid doing the actual work needed to succeed. There simply isn’t any way of shortcutting success, there is a process and it will be long and rewarding, and it will be founded in the basics.

Some of the basics:

Time management, planning, communication, focus, organization, sleep & health, relationships, networking, being open and interested in things.

Notice, these items are not specific to any vertical. The basics are ubiquitous and everyone needs to work on them throughout their career.

I am confident that I will be remarking several times this year on topics the bump up, overlap and mirror this very issue of avoiding work.
